Brian finds it most rewarding when his patients can walk out of the clinic pain-free and get back to their most-enjoyed activities. Interacting with patients and helping them reach their goals fuels his passion for physical therapy. Having gone through a basketball injury himself, Brian knows how it feels to be on the patient’s end, and continues to do all he can to achieve positive outcomes.

Alicia grew up playing basketball and running track. Her strong interest in her hobbies and fitness lead her to choose physical therapy as a profession. Alicia is passionate about helping people return to their daily activities and heal through movement. Alicia strives to constantly keep learning and growing her skillset to provide the best care for her patients.

Holly PTA

Education: Western New Mexico University, Gateway Community College
Holly has been a Physical Therapy Assistant for over 15 years. Holly received her Bachelor of Science in Wellness and Movement Sciences in 2001. After her time in New Mexico, she returned to Tucson, continued her education, and graduated from Gateway Community College with her Associate’s in Physical Therapist Assisting. In addition to her degrees and experience, Holly is a certified Kinesiotape Practitioner with ten years of experience and four years of aquatic therapy proficiency. She is passionate about and enjoys practicing manual techniques, such as manual stretching, soft tissue massage, and Graston techniques.

Cyndi PTA

Education: University of Arizona, Pima Medical Institute
Cyndi’s interest in physical therapy developed when she received physical therapy following a softball injury. Her past experience allows her to be compassionate and dedicated to the details of excellent patient care. Cyndi is a native of Tucson and played college softball for the University of Arizona, and was on the National Championship team in 2007. She has also been inducted into the Flowing Wells High School sports hall of fame.

Education: Duke University
Leslie received her clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the Duke University School of Medicine in 2003. Since that time, she has practiced in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, and home health care environments. She has been actively involved in clinical research, administration, program development, professional compliance, and quality assurance. She became a certified lymphedema therapist through the Lymphology Association of North America in 2006 and earned her Master’s in Business Administration in 2016.

Frank PT, DPT, CSCS

Education: University at Buffalo
Frank joined Proactive after becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University at Buffalo and is an Orthopedic Resident under the Foothills Sports Medicine Group, working towards becoming a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist. He initially graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University at Buffalo in 2016. Frank is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Frank’s passion is running, and he has spent a significant amount of time in and out of school learning gait analysis techniques, coaching philosophies, and programs to help runners get the most out of their individual stride. He enjoys working with athletes of all ages to improve their performance and bring them back to their sport, healthy and pain-free.

Paige PTA

Education: Villa Maria College
Paige is from Buffalo, New York, and has been in Tucson for over a year. Paige has been practicing as a PTA for four years and graduated from Villa Maria College in 2015. She enjoys treating athletes, especially runners and swimmers but also enjoys working with patients after they have had joint replacements. She enjoys coming up with challenging exercises in agility, balance, coordination, and strength. She is constantly learning new skills to help her patients, such as; taping, gait/run analysis, manual therapy, and blood flow restriction. She assesses runners’ forms, so they are pain-free and lifelong runners.

Angela chose physical therapy as her career path after her father had his hip replaced, and she watched him go through PT. She likes to treat patients with neurological pathologies, such as strokes, balance, and Parkinson’s disease.

Dr. David Borboa’s passion for physical therapy shines through his deep listening and respect for each patient’s unique story. He’s an empathetic provider, readily adapting to individual schedules and needs while prioritizing a positive and empowering experience. Witnessing his patients achieve functional goals, regain fitness, and return to work or their sport fuels his daily motivation.
Dr. Borboa works closely with pain specialists in treating individuals with chronic pain conditions and has worked with many professional athletes, including baseball players, swimmers, track athletes, cyclists, and runners. In addition, he served as the local physical therapist for the Tucson Sidewinders AAA baseball team in 2006 and 2007 and worked with active-duty military personnel at an Air Force base.

Nikki PT, DPT, MTC
Education: Weber State University, University of St. Augustine
Nikki combines her levels of education, continuing education, and years of experience to help patients have the most effective outcome. She listens to each patient, does her best to understand the information they give her, and then works with them on their goals. She attended graduate school at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in St. Augustine, FL, under the instruction of Stanley Paris, a renowned New Zealand Physiotherapist. Nikki received her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in physical therapy and has advanced training in Manual Therapy (MTC) and Kinesio Tape.

Nicole PTA

Nicole started her journey in physical therapy when she worked as a physical therapy tech at an outpatient clinic in Sierra Vista, AZ. In 2015, she received her PTA education and training from Pima Medical Institute. Nicole is very caring and compassionate when it comes to helping others. Being able to treat and help people reach their goals and get better is her greatest reward. She is a Southern Arizona native, born and raised in Sierra Vista, Arizona. She also received her certified medical assistant and nursing assistant from Cochise College.

Xochitl PTA

Xochitl became a physical therapy assistant (PTA) after witnessing her father go through PT. She has been a PTA for ten years and is passionate about helping others become more functional and get back to the things they love. Xochitl has experience in many settings and demographics, from pediatrics to geriatrics.

Jim was born and raised in Wisconsin, played sports in college, and has been a PTA for 10 years. He worked in business and finance, but when he suffered a back injury in 2007, he was seen by an older PTA who was in his second career. Jim was inspired and developed a passion for physical therapy and decided to change careers and become a PTA when the market fell. He would describe his treatment style as one in which he listens to his patients and uses his expertise to explain how to help them.

Brad PTA

Education: GateWay Community College, University of Arizona
Brad is a Phoenix native and received his Bachelor’s in Physiology from the University of Arizona and his physical therapist assisting degree from GateWay Community College. He has worked with a diverse patient population in outpatient physical therapy, inpatient hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, athletic training, and sports medicine. Brad likes to focus on proper body mechanics, appropriate muscle activation, focused manual techniques and shifting bad habits to good habits.
