Dr. Shaun Peterson to Speak on Hip Arthroscopy

Dr. Peterson will be speaking Tuesday, June 21 at 6:30 PM at Sullivans Steakhouse. This event is invite-only, with limited seats available.

ProActive Physical Therapy is delighted to have Dr. Shuaun Peterson the Chief Physician of Pima Ortho as a featured speaker discussing hip arthroscopy. Dr. Peterson has special interests in sports medicine and arthroscopy of the knee, shoulder, ankle, elbow, hip, and wrist, pediatric fractures, and sports injuries. He is board-certified, a Fellow of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, and belongs to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Peterson was introduced to Hip Arthroscopy in its infancy (2002) while getting his orthopedic training at one of the biggest sports medicine populations around—the US Navy.  “The initial years of hip arthroscopy were challenging and our abilities were not that great.  Over the last 20 years, I have been the beneficiary of brilliant surgeons and engineers that have advanced the field tremendously”, says Dr. Peterson.

Beyond successful labrum repairs, FAI debridement, tendon repairs, and instability surgeries, he will be speaking on treatable pathology in cartilage restoration in the hip that previously could only be accomplished with surgical hip dislocation.

I have one of the most rewarding jobs in medicine. To be able to assist a motivated patient’s natural ability to restore function or reduce pain is truly a wonderful experience. When the normal regenerative or healing functions of the body are inadequate to restore musculoskeletal health, we have at our disposal fantastic surgical and non-surgical solutions that can bring a patient out of pain and into motion and strength. I am fortunate to be supported by great clinical and operative staff to accomplish the goals that the patient and I set to attain.” says Dr. Peterson.
