If you’re new to PT and not sure what to expect at physical therapy, we’re sharing answers some commonly asked questions.
What should I wear at my physical therapy appointment?
We always recommend to wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing—something that you can move around in. If you have a lower extremity injury, bring or wear gym shorts. And don’t forget your tennis shoes—movement is key in physical therapy.
What should I bring to my first physical therapy appointment?
We always recommend bringing a water bottle, comfy/athletic clothes and tennis shoes for attire. If it’s your very first appointment, you’ll also need to bring your photo ID, insurance card and doctor’s referral if you have one. We’ll send the paperwork to you ahead of time, so please also bring a copy of that in too.
How often should I schedule my physical therapy appointments?
This question varies based on the nature and severity of your problem, your physician’s recommendation, your physical therapists’ assessment and your insurance coverage. Together, we’ll work to create a plan that meets your needs and helps you get back on track.
