Whether you’re traveling by car, plane, or train—we’re sharing three ways to help you and your family eat healthier during your summer trip.
Tip #1: Shop at a Farmer’s market or grocery store.
If you’re staying at an Airbnb, condo, or renting out a home for a week—try making some of your meals there. Often you will find a healthy selection at a local shopping scene, such as a Farmers’ market for fresh fruits and veggies. You can also make a grocery store run for staple fresh meals
Tip #2: Enjoy a picnic.
If you plan a long road trip, break up the drive time by planning a picnic. Preparing sandwiches, and veggies with hummus, and sparkling water ahead of time, will make stopping to take in the views even better.
Tip #3: Pack Healthy Snack Options.
For many of us, a trip to someplace cooler is what we have planned for summer travel. If you’re hopping on a plane, don’t let the fast-food temptations take over when you’re in the terminal. Instead, pack healthy snacks like granola or protein bars, fresh-cut veggies, and an apple to hold you and your family over until you touch down at your destination. Don’t forget to stay hydrated while flying too!
We hope these family-friendly tips help you enjoy your summer vacation while still nourishing your body with healthy food choices. From all of us at ProActive Physical Therapy, we’re wishing you and your family a fun, safe and healthy summer!
